This is disheartening. I want all races in my community and unfortunately I think this is racist. I understand the black community wants to be supported, it’s coming off as a one way street. I’ve encountered racism lately all from mentally unstable black women. Blacksky will further segregate people

(RNS) — Last month, the Rev. David Black stood in front of a Chicago-area U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility and spread his arms wide. Adorned in all black and wearing a clerical collar, the pastor looked up at a group of masked, heavily armed ICE agents on the roof and began to pray.

“I invited them to repentance,” Black, a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), said in an interview. “I basically offered an altar call. I invited them to come and receive that salvation, and be part of the kingdom that is coming.”

But when Black began to lower his arms a few seconds later, the agents responded to his spiritual plea by firing pepper balls, or chemical agents that cause eye irritation and respiratory distress, video footage shows. One struck Black in the head, exploding into a puff of white pepper smoke and forcing him to his knees. Fellow demonstrators rushed to his aid, and as the pastor rubbed his face in pain, the agents continued to fire.

“We could hear them laughing,” Black said.

We made red beans and rice for dinner and my MIL made a carrot cake. We stopped by her house to trade. She sent us home with:

- half of the carrot cake
- 5 kinds of fragrance oils
- a nail gun
- some pothos clippings
- a whole dragonfruit plant
- a bag of diatomaceous earth

I also feel so angry & confused about how dismissive the other doctors were in comparison (& the fact that one of them was a Black woman I sought out specifically bc I thought she’d be more likely to listen to me)

Today I saw a more senior doctor who took one look at my chart & said “You’re right, this isn’t normal, you don’t have to accept this, these are your options”

It means I need surgery, but I feel so relieved to have found someone knowledgeable who didn’t just tell me to accept worse quality of life

It is so important to be a persistent self-advocate.

I’ve had some health issues for most of this year. I had a feeling the issues were related/compounding & I’ve said so for months. But 2 different doctors said “Nah prob not, you’re just aging, you should get used to this, it’s your new normal”
