Margret Mead said humans started being humans when they cared for people too disabled to help their community. Certainly says something about RFK and his feelings about people who can't pay taxes.

Even more than that. I would rather be mocked for almost anything else than the things I love. I'd rather be teased for my looks, or being bad at my job, or being annoying than be teased for liking something weird. Like my interests feel more "me" than I am!

This particular weekend I did actually none of those things, but that didn't occur to me until 2 hours after the answer. My brain is doing a two decade old threat assessment that letting people know what I like is dangerous.

An answer I planned beforehand knowing it's something people ask. An answer slightly different than the one I give when colleges ask me the same question. An answer based on reality, but slanted toward what I think is the average or expected answer.

Today a student asked me what I did this weekend, and I responded with the canned answer I've used when students ask me that questions my entire teaching career.

One of the most autistic things about me is lying causes my physical pain unless it's about hobbies and interests in which case telling truth causes my physical pain.

Actually, even the autistic people who will never pay taxes or write poetry or go to the bathroom by themselves still deserve a place in our society.

The worst thing about chronic illness is when you know how to fix the problem you're currently having but it would cause new problems through side effects.

I found this blog post interesting.

The research found 3 themes relating to loneliness in chronic illness.

It then mentions a writing exercise one can do to analyse these in your own situation.

I have regressive autism. I stopped talking and walking at sixteen months old. I'm the thing RFK is afraid of.

It was an illness (prevented by vaccines since 1998) that caused the fever which game me autism.

He has it dangerously backwards. (Also my life is worth living.)

Being chronically ill is like:

“It’s fine.”

“It’s fine.”

“It’s fine.”

*complete mental breakdown because you can’t do this anymore*

“It’s fine.”

Took the dog on a new walk this morning, because variety is good for the burned out brain.
Also, for the new smells and dog's joy. She got to smell a dead bird, a dead rabbit, AND her own poop in a bag.
