This is what happens when nostalgia meets my obsessive collecting. I had one of these Hallicrafters S-40Bs when I was a kid. I spent hours at a time tuning in to far off broadcasts. Something brought that back to mind and I really wanted to relive those times. So I spent too much on eBay for this.

After a few delays I finally got the satellite receiver set up that I bought for my son in December. Supporting my son’s dream of becoming a meteorologist I set up a Raspberry pi with an SDR and Satdump software. Now successfully downloading GOES 18 data for him to use and learn with.
