Although a SoCal resident, I was a Vikings fan during the Tarkenton days. Those SB losses were tough, I reminded myself that they were usually the underdogs in the big game, so I never accepted the "choke" term. And now I'm a Timberwolves fan (got there via ex-Laker Julius Randle...xint team)! #AT40

It seems to me that, while the four A.B.B.A. members deservedly get the limelight, their backing band was also special. Very versatile throughout their albums, getting to the sweet essence of the best of the genres they were incorporating on a particular track. #AT40

Agree! Mick Fleetwood, iconic drummer! I think second place may go to whomever the beat maker was on Thelma Houston's iconic disco bop 'Don't Leave Me This Way.' #AT40

On the other hand, the Saturday #AT40 rebroadcasts start here at 9am. Actually, that works well for me, because it's usually over by approximately 11:15am here. Done before lunch.

I'm guessing Louis Armstrong at an earlier point in pop music history, maybe. #AT40

I got lucky living in L.A. where KTLK AM was a fave of mine from approx. 2005-2011 (when it switched to rightwing). The Air America days: Stephanie Miller, Al Franken, Thom Hartmann, Randi Rhodes, and even early pre-tv work by Rachel Maddow. #AT40 Steph & Thom are now on SIRIUSXM's Progressive/127.

By 1979 I had an FM radio in my car, and so AM top forty was rarely a format I was still listening to (not much FM #AT40 either). So most of the hits on this 1979-11-10 rerun that I know of I heard via other radio formats (or via actually buying the music).

I do have several CD collections covering most of Allen Toussaint's 1970s albums, and also the later collab with Elvis Costello! A memorable artist! #AT40

Wow! I know opinions will vary, but to me most music of the AOR-era lacked that adventurous vibe & rawness of my fave rock music from the 1950s to mid-1970s. And iirc classic rock artists like David Bowie that I was still listening to were experimenting with music that I doubt AOR would play. #AT40

I checked KROQ out several times in recent years, but at least in those small sample sizes the music wasn't really relatable to me. Do they still play the vintage stuff? #AT40
