The Dunning-Kruger Effect is a cognitive bias where people with limited knowledge overestimate their own competence. This arises because their lack of knowledge prevents them from understanding their lack of knowledge

As they increase in competence they begin to understand how much they don't know

What NIH funding cuts mean for universities : NPR | "The easy way to think about it is that the institutions and the government have been splitting roughly 50/50 the costs of building the research enterprise in the U.S." since World War 2
What National Institutes of Health funding cuts could mean for U.S. universities
What do National Institutes of Health funding cuts mean for universities? We ask Holden Thorp, editor-in-chief of the journal Science and former University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill chancellor.

THIS IS IT. The special general elections for Florida’s 1st & 6th Congressional Districts are on APRIL 1, 2025. If we flip these seats, we can STOP Project 2025. No excuses! Mark your calendars! Show up!

A few days behind but I’m posting day 22 of #amonthinpaper what I listen to while I work. I love audiobooks and podcasts. I’m a big history nerd.

Apparently it needs saying, again, as autism is used as an excuse for bullshit, again, but:

AUTISM DOES NOT MAKE YOU LESS AWARE OF YOUR ACTIONS AND THEIR CONSEQUENCES. IT MAKES YOU HYPER-AWARE AND ANXIOUS ABOUT THEM.

Women who experience pregnancy loss shouldn’t have to go to the web archives to find their federal rights. reproductiverights.gov is a resource that should be available to all women.

This is not a video for people to debate when it was last edited or taken down. It’s providing information for WOMEN until it gets put back up.

The question of the day for #amonthinpaper is scalpel or scissors? I started with scissors and started using blades in 2020. I love my Sean Morton 11p blades. Has to have the p for point. It’s how I get all those tiny details. Pic of my handy sharps container.

Making great progress on this piece. It’s going faster than last time. I will be keeping it for myself to use for cyanotypes. #artinprogress #wip #paperartist #cuttingpaper

Pretty excited about the amount of progress I’ve made on this piece. I think muscle memory is playing a part in it. #wip #papercuttingart #papercuting #art

I’ve had people ask me what does one do with a piece of my art? You can do many things with it. I’ve created cyanotype using them. I do sell them at in person events. You can also message me if you’re interested in something. 😘

Am I crazy probably. I am recutting one of the hardest pieces I’ve ever done. Every bit of this is cut by hand using a scalpel blade.
