i have had similar situations happen. very much reached the point where for most items, i'd rather just be told they were out. paying for difderent thing i did not want or ask for is silly.

one thing this does seem to provide, as a tech solution, is bridging distance and accessibility gaps, which is a useful thing for tech to do.

this is the kind of project i would enjoy helping with.
