On the net since it was called DARPANet. Degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Used that background to become a Photonics Engineer just in time to look for a person to train to replace me when I retire.

Updates from the field.

The Grinch will get a new heart for Christmas. The new doctor (I fired the last one) read my charts, saw how I'd been treated at the previous hospital, laughed & said they'd get me in ASAP, scheduled me for Christmas eave 😇

Increase in productivity since 1979: 87%

Increase in hourly pay since 1979: 32%

Just so happens that ~25% of workers were unionized in 1979. Today? 10%.

As unions declined, the super-rich have taken a larger share of wealth generated by labor. We must build back union power.

A new investigation revealed that school districts and local governments are reportedly overpaying for supplies because of Amazon contracts that bind them to dynamic pricing.

Rather than allow for competitive bidding, the deals “covertly raise prices and inflate costs for governments.”

If Republicans don't extend ACA subsidies, people are going to die. Now, they’re trying to tie Americans' health care to abortion restrictions that kill women.

It’s absolutely a non-starter. We won’t allow Republicans to use the lives of women as the political cost of extension.

Reminder that Starbucks’ CEO made 6,666x more than the company's median employee in 2024.

This was the widest CEO-to-Worker pay gap in the entire S&P 500.

And we're supposed to believe Starbucks can't afford to bargain a fair contract with its unionized workers?

Trump's economy is being held up by a massive AI bubble.

A recent study found that of 300 companies that owned generative AI tools, 95% reported zero return on their investments.

We will not entertain a bailout of these companies should this bubble pop.
