That would be an awesome team!

Good point! Who would you want to fill out a 4 around him?

Maybe! A lot of teams these days like to play down the wings. Do you think he would have the speed to cover the wide areas?

He'd be tough to beat!

Overtime is Overrated. Why ruin a perfectly good tie.

The maximum length of the field was increased in order to maintain the desired 2:1 field ratio, and because committee members saw short fields as limiting for highly skilled kicking backs.

The minimum width of the field was reduced specifically so that the game can be played inside of a turf or concrete hockey rink area. These are commonly used for soccer and lacrosse, and we wanted to see them usable for oarball as well.

Adding a second offensive player opens up new avenues for creativity, further reduces the chance of a chasedown, and turns an individual moment into a team one, more in line with the rest of the sport. We're excited to see the new moves players try and the new plays coaches draw up!

Moving the spot forward makes a chasedown stop less likelly, but also opens up the opportunity for a direct shot on goal.

It also means that a player can't be assessed a foul for standing still and not touching anyone, a rule which was confusing and frustrating for players.

Instead of penalizing defenders for defending their goal, this new rule allows strong, physical forwards to impact the game more and score more goals, something the rules committee was particularly focused on.

Now, offensive players are allowed to be offside and still participate in play if two or more defenders are in the goal crease, with a short moment's leeway favoring the offense to discourage cynical behavior from defenders.

3. The dimensions of the field were amended. Fields are now allowed to be narrower (down to 80 feet) and longer (up to 240 feet) than previously with a recommended 2:1 ratio. The zone lines and channel lines were increased in width from 20 feet to 30 feet.

2. Penalty shots are not a 2v1 for the offense rather than an equal 1v1. Penalty shots are to be taken farther up the field rather than inside the centre square.
