Ostensibly it’s to create a more streamlined & interdepartmental structure, but it’s probably to allow the Mayor to control the outcome of the work rather than lead with safety.

Electeds know very well that they are trading safety for driver convenience. They just don’t think they’ll pay the political consequences- hopefully that changes.

Bond market sale certainly indicates the city was being very conservative in its outlook, but do you think the Lee administration has added a perceived stability to Oakland that didnt exist last year with the recall, etc?
