Expect to see me promoting my stuff a lot more in the near future, unfortunately I’ve gotta make quite a bit more money to live.

people asking “why can’t they do both?” and the answer: on tariffs/the economy the plan is to do nothing and make posts about egg prices. whereas on immigration, as von hollen has shown, there’s space to act. and really what the “it’s a distraction” camps wants is to not act
NEW: A deportation case exposes a rift among Democrats over how to take on Trump

One camp sees a pivotal moment to lean in and fight a lawless move.

Another camp sees a trap and wants to pivot to hitting Trump on his growing economic vulnerability.

Abrego Garcia's deportation case exposes a rift among Democrats over how to take on Trump
As some Democrats vocally push for the release of the man the administration says was mistakenly deported, others have sought to steer clear and focus on high prices and economic issues.

Obama and Biden may think they are honoring the office of the presidency by keeping quiet at a moment like this — if so that’s just preening vanity — they owe it to the office and to the Republic that until last month it served to speak up loudly and clearly and without relent.

Public health officials should consider worker power and worker voice a fundamental social determinant of health, one which has helped create the mortality crisis that we currently face.

Delighted by People’s Joker, I imagined it would be much more Tim & Eric than it was, and was very charmed that it had quite a bit more of a Frisky Dingo+ Mr. show joke style.

Personally annoyed that all 4 interesting films of the season opened in the same week here (Nickel, Brutalist, Hard Truths, Room Next Door)
MGM's NICKEL BOYS was schooled in limited release, finding just $297k in 214 theaters, $1,238 per.

Quite word-of-mouth + minimal promotion = box office buster.

Will have to score some big Oscar nom-noms to gain any more traction.

Fascism thrives on false simplicity. It festers in insecurity and grows into groupthink. Art asks us to consider other perspectives, contexts, and our own emotional landscape.
