I recall being a kid and downloading some mods on the family computer without fully understanding what I was doing. I clicked a bunch of fake "download" links and my dad opened up Internet Explorer to see like 8+ search bars and some sus apps. My dad was so mad and just reformatted the PC lmao
too many kids today have never destroyed the family PC with sketchy downloads

folks today don't know the abject fear of inadvertently downloading, for the first (and only lol) time, a .exe file from kazaa or limewire and it shows

I really wish Bluesky was based on ActivityPub and was a boom in popularity for the federated network. Makes no sense to me that they went and created the AT Protocol. All the content here is ultimately still owned/controlled by Bluesky to my understanding.
