Old man trying to be as best a teacher I can be. Hailing from sunny Leicestershire, I'm interested in most things educational. Thinking about what a Democratic education system could look like. #UKEd. #UKTeaching #PrimaryTeaching

When I first got into research-informed practice, I was starry-eyed at its potential. Now, it's just a complete mess of egos and dogma. Completely disillusioned by the general atmosphere if it.

Might apply for a laugh 🤣 I can build up that rejection portfolio!

A lot of this stuff is designed, practiced and rehearsed ay Seconday, then claimed for all schools regardless of context.

Some unionists. Try and be honest yourself.

Sit upright and still
Track the speaker
Answer like a scholar
Respect the speaker.
I love watching Y1s trying to answer like a scholar 🤣. I think it's a Doug Lemov thing. It can be used, but does need contextual understanding.

Stop worrying if people like you.

They don’t…

I've been arguing against the 'T' in STAR listening for a couple of years now. But it never seems to be taken seriously.

What a cesspool of a society we have made for ourselves. And now we have to watch the worst of humanity stir that cesspool, allowing the most rancid of faecal humanity to rise to the top. What have we done?

Absolutely. Looking forward to the next one!

LLMs are still in their infancy, and require careful handling.

I teach Y5 at primary. I wouldn't for a number of reasons, but probably the most important is how you structure and phrase the instructions for the AI. Get that wrong, and you will nit get the desired output.

Yes. So generating sentences or questions for fluency in Maths and Writing. Creating short pieces for exemplars. LSQs multiple choice. I just recently created a resource of 500 questions about commercial airliners for one of my SEND boys as a post-work reward. That sort of thing.

Isn't it time England had a bank holiday to celebrate the successes of the Lionesses and Roses?

Using AI in schools is a little akin to letting someone drive in F1 with the experience of driving a Ford Fiesta.

Breaking news:
Tommy Robinson set to organise an emergency nationwide demonstration after the MET office reported that Britain might have an Indian summer.

(Had to be shared after seeing it doing the rounds 😁)

Can't help but think that using AI in schools at the moment is like letting someone into a Nascar with no experience and a basic driving licence.

It's all an interesting debate at the moment. Problem is how it is phrased. The current CogSci 'revolution' in education is all just correlation, but is pitched as causation. That's the danger.

Well, England won't get revenge over the Black Ferns, but the best two teams in the world in the RWC final? Glorious.
