Beware the misuse of the term 'alignment', used to disguise rigid, consistent, high-fidelity uniformity, directed by decades-outdated Command-and-Control management systems.

I’ve been devouring Coaching Walkthrus this week.

This part on learning walks is particularly relevant- the framing of the observation is everything!

Love this page from @scottinghatt.bsky.social @ @mradamkohlbeck.bsky.social in Coaching Walkthrus.

Teachers spend 98% of their time in classrooms with no one watching, so hit the coaching sweet spot with WalkThrus and make that 2% really count.

Yes and, elsewhere, that prior knowledge is necessary but insufficient.

Dave Gray is so great. I get his emails (of this type) every week, and each one gets me thinking and re-evaluating what I consider to be true and useful.
His Visual Frameworks (100+) are brilliant. Take a look: visualframeworks.com

Just in case you didn't 'get it', you could never consider all 2,304 combinations 'inside your head'. And this is where CLT hasn't sufficiently explored the use of writing/mark-making as a tool to expand the boundaries of cognitive load. As Merlin Donald pointed out with his EXMF

The Zwicky Box is, I think, one of the greatest insights of & tool for creativity. To start, it's very disappointing to see the mechanical nature of our thinking reduced to such humbling combinations. But, soon after, I see how it can contribute marvellously to greater complexity

Deliberate Practice isn't quite what's believed. How many other such beliefs haven't been updated with superior evidence?

I worked with an infant teacher who used to tell & show his pupils the knowledge structures they were going to work within before hand. The pupils 'got it' easily & loved the cognitive helicopter ride they afforded.

There's been recent talk of revealing to students the structure of knowledge. Then just generalities. This is far more specific. There's a lot of agreement here, so take note, even if your favourite cog scientist hasn't publicised it.
