They accidentally, remotely deleted 4 hours of transaction records on a busy Friday Evening, & took 11 days of constant chasing to finally investigate & admit to it! A full stocktake now appears the only way to fix it. 1/3

The market for wine is about to get a lot messier and more problematic thanks to Tory reforms that will kick in in February, which Labour should have repealed (on grounds of sanity, frankly) but haven't.

Daniel spells it all out. He's an industry expert. Remember those?
This week I have not only doing my actual job of bringing our wines to market but have also tried very hard to point out the major flaws in HMRC’s new wine excise laws which if they go ahead the UK state is likely to be defrauded by wine producers the world over. Here is how, why. It’s not pretty.

It’s that important wine trade day again… The third Thursday in November means it’s time for Bojo Novo! Look what we have in store… What to expect from it this year? Banana? Bubblegum? Red berries?

Made a (quite short to begin with) wine people starter pack. I feel like the wine world is a bit under represented here so please point me in the direction of folk I ought to know / be adding.

Taxing times for wine lovers

Alcohol duty and how it affects the way wines taste - and are made

David Williams brilliantly describes - within each of his Wines of the Week - how the UK is heading towards some shocking wines on the shelf.

I’m not against alcohol duty at-all, but the complex Tory shake up that Labour are implementing in February favours large business over small, creates more barriers to trade with the EU and will mean less choice & higher prices for UK wine drinkers whilst raising less tax revenue, it makes no sense!
A bunch of wine friends is trying to stop the February duty hike. To join the protest send a capsule or screwcap to Rachel Reeves c/o HM Treasury, 1 Horse Guards Road, London SW1A 2HQ. Please urge the government to #capthewinetax. Our petition goes live soon. We’re aiming for 10,000 signatures.
