We really need to start paying attention to this underlying need that is driving the demand for "AI". This is a real human need. We know that because it is making people do things that are objectively not very smart. People will compromise their reasoning and their values to get their needs met.

I would love to be able to boot Debian, configured to my liking ideally. I don't know if giving people this kind of choice is in your plans.

Cool! The “as many vms as you want“ angle is a great idea. I set up proxmox on a mini pc in my office (accessed via tailscale) for this kind of stuff but I don’t relish creating a new VM.

I think many years ago the AAA tried to lobby to give right of way to the *cars* when turning right on red. My parents wrote a stern letter and terminated their membership with AAA because of that.

The more I think about it the more I think computing interfaces go from CLI w small Unixy tools ... -> GUI -> LLMs in front of small Unixy tools, though probably with good graphical feedback.

Absolutely. LLMs are fantastic as an interface to complex tools. I am new to HomeAssistant and I have found it far easier to ask Claude to generate some YAML for automations that does what I want than to navigate the HA GUI. Like it's not even close.
