I think of this plaque often and the people who will say there was nothing we could have done or no way to have known.

What are the odds on the people behind this being dragged into the street by an angry mob and strung up from lamp posts?

Dems should just come forward with this post just announce "Yes. This is what we'll do."

I'm just worried that it'll be a slippery bat-slope.

I hypothesize that people are more attentive to their environment when someone dressed as Batman is present because it's an unusual event, and therefore are more likely to notice someone in need of their seat. If Batman were a common occurrence on the subway, the effect would gradually fall off.

I do wish they would stop dissenting "respectfully".

I, for one, think that murder should be hard.

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1913)

Watched: Dec 3, 2025
Would almost be an okay slapstick comedy, but it's supposed to be a horror. Mr. Hyde comes off like a cross between Frank Reynolds and a Jerry Lewis character. The interstitials do a bad job of explaining what's going on.

On Her Majesty's Secret Service
★★½
Watched: Dec 3, 2025
A lot to like here. Lazenby gives a more empathetic Bond who's good in a scrap. The skiing stunts are well executed and the avalanche is worth of Emmerich. Diana Rigg gets an active role in the plot. But by god the movie JUST. DRAGS. ON.
December 4, 2025 at 6:10 AM
Also, the fact this movie is about a cop named John wearing a tanktop and singlehandedly fighting off an attack where seeming terrorists have taken over an entire building while worrying about a family member who's been taken hostage makes this a Die Hard movie, and the best one imo.

White House Down (2013)
★★★★★
Watched: Dec 2, 2025
This is another perfect movie. The editing is SO good at maintaining pace and upping the stakes. The action is well-conceived and the political situation is compelling if not entirely realistic. 1/

A more interesting conversation, in my opinion, is whether White House Down is a Die Hard movie.

Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)
★★★★

Great action and banter if you can overlook the pedophilia accusations against the character. Lots of fun moments, and the convoy scene is some of the best action on film. Protagonist is entirely superfluous to the plot.

Primer (2004)
★★★★
Watched: Nov 30, 2025
I really like the verisimilitude of how the characters interact with each other, leaving the audience to keep up. It's ultimately not as complicated as I remembered it being on my last viewing, but I still love it even if the climax is fairly pointless.

Do the Right Thing (1989)
★★★½
Watched: Nov 27, 2025
It's definitely good, but I feel like there's more here than I could appreciate in a single viewing. I'm kind of lost for words on this one.

Kiss of the Spider Woman (2025)
★★★★

I liked this better than the original movie. Even though Molina still dies at the end, it felt more earned narratively. The musical numbers made it more lively, but I wish they had gone bigger.

Big (1988)

Fun and charming. Obviously some of the plot elements have aged poorly, but for a fantasy movie I found them easier to overlook. The digital comic book idea is terrible lol.

Right? Like I have a ton of trans friends whom I view positively and I'm aware of a bunch of trans people I bear no ill will against and also Caitlin Jenner fucking sucks but, nevertheless, should have rights.
