For the record, Joe Hockey is a defence lobbyist who stands to make millions from defence contracts with the US and other allies. To just describe him in interviews as a former US ambassador and not his CURRENT vested interest role is not just irresponsible, it's lying.

The media in QLD hve switched from blaming Labor for “youth crime” - to blaming the justice system for not handing down harsher sentences now that the LNP are in govt.

Brereton always defines corruption as typically being engaged in "for a private benefit" which is explicitly NOT what his own Act requires. They even have a clause saying: "Conduct involving a public official may be corrupt conduct even if the conduct is not for the person’s personal benefit."

Brereton is doing a great job of filibustering this NACC oversight committee hearing which has just 90 minutes for questions from senators. Almost half an hour gone now and he's still in his opening statement. Mostly rehash of his speech from last week so far.
