The centrepost of conversation about what makes QLD great.

Believes in the promise, the present and the future of QLD.

Non-partisan, centrist, self-styled urbanist.

Prefers to be the third choice in a two choice question.

Bluesky user #2,491,550.
And they'll get it while News Corp Australia still owns 70% of the Broncos.

The same News Corp that has a partnership with the Australian Olympic Committee.

What I'd give for a journo to ask for full disclosure of any gifts made by News Corp Australia to Palaszczuk, Miles and Crisafulli.

Who should be in the Townsville mayoral by-election stakes.

None other than Steve "Pricey" Price.

He'd shoe it in, in the big local race.

That's right: a train designed to go 160km/h and tilt into curves is now going slower on the final segment of it's journey... than it's predecessor.

The real people behind the SEQ Olympic bid from the start: a bunch of SEQ mayors, trying to dodge attention away from the events that engulfed the Ipswich and Logan councils in 2017/18.

Moreton Bay would have headed the same way had their mayor Allan Sutherland not quit in 2019.

A tip to Queenslanders: Albo's idea (particularly rowing/whitewater in Sydney) is not just common sense, but reflecting what the IOC suggested at bid stage, when rowing was proposed for Larapinta/whitewater in Redlands.

In case you are wondering where the lions share of the supposed 75% regional print advertising spend by the QLD Govt is actually going...

It's going to Campbell St Bowen Hills... because News Corp decimated regional print news five years ago.

A revenue sink we all are ending up paying for.

A interesting line from a FB comment last week (concerning the number of tradies required for the 2032 Games: and for housing growth just to meet demand)

Could be a big issue in the future, that nobody today has realized yet.

Hey, @catfield.bsky.social: Any idea if you can find a draft of the QLD Govt's document they released today, preferably fallen off the back of a truck?

I somehow think this error needs to be made more public than it is now.

If you want proof of how critical we are about the possibility of the News Corp site in Bowen Hills being acquired by the QLD Government (originally as Mt Coot-tha relocation space, now as a possible Olympic Village):

We've been warning about it since 2021.

It is a conflict of interest.

Meanwhile: Brisbane Hilton (Queen St Mall in the increasingly barren ISPT-owned Wintergarden complex) set to leave the chain on April 1.

Meanwhile tomorrow night, our politicians will turn up to this event at the Gabba to spruik what they are doing for road safety.

Personally, I'd give the trophy to the Thunder without batting a over.

NSW still has state government funding for Driver Reviver.

Queensland does not.

This has been kept quiet by BAC:

On Tuesday, Brisbane Airport Corporation finally got federal approval to withdraw their Auto Mall plans (near the international terminal.)

The project's cancellation was first announced in July 2023.

CA was too busy pleading it's case for a new stadium through the 2032 Olympics PR portal that is the Courier-Mail, two days before the start of the third test.

Any wonder some of us want a referendum on the 2032 Games that actually costs anyone who voted on them on 2/12/2021 their jobs.

I wouldn't be surprised if there are deep rooted problems within that council.

Especially when a former mayor accepted a gift from a News Corp subsidiary... at the same time the SEQ Mayors were mapping out the 2032 Olympic bid (which News ultimately plugged copiously).

Tomorrow's talkback radio agenda is sorted.

As revealed as the final burst from One Queensland on Twitter: Allan Sutherland legally disclosed a $2880 gift from News Corp subsidiary Quest News in 2018: a trip to the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

One for @mattdennien.bsky.social at Brisbane Times: Large amounts of Queensland Parliament-labeled "important election information for residents" letters (in ALP typeface) have been spotted in the wild in multiple electorates.
