This is why I love open world RPG’s with giant maps… some argue that AC Valhalla is too large, or that Night City is too oppressive, or that Death Stranding might be too taxing… but it all adds to the beauty of the environments and the complete immersion. I want to feel like I’m THERE.

Colchester being the first Roman city in Britain will always fascinate me… and even though it was in decline during the Anglo-Saxon period (kinda), I love how AC Valhalla structured the environment in the game, including all those ruins.

When you think of gladiators, your mind probably jumps to the Colosseum of Rome, not the damp and misty landscapes of Britain. But the Romans brought these spectacles to the province, and evidence suggests that gladiatorial combat was a popular form of entertainment even on this distant frontier.
For #FindsFriday a lamp depicting a 'fallen' #galdiator found as part of a #Roman burial assemblage from #Colchester. Currently on loan to @dorsetmuseum.bsky.social. Been having lots of interesting chats this morning with @belovedofoizys.bsky.social about these for an exciting upcoming project!

The stone used to build the castle was largely recycled from Roman ruins, which were still plentiful in Colchester at the time. The Normans were nothing if not practical, and they repurposed these ancient materials to create the formidable stronghold you see today.

Looks like there’s no escaping this mess on any social media platform 😖 I have so many thoughts… racism under the guise of concern is so corny and played out. AfriForum is just another butt sniffer of irrelevant (to this country’s political climate) American racial and identity politics.

The Sims 2 legacy collection missing IKEA stuff is actually a travesty… it was the only pack that had actually good modern furniture… I hope CC creators recreate the pack meshes to download for this edition. That would be iconic.
