Not sure how this surge compares to last couple years but we’re still not out of the woods with avian flu

Indeed. To avoid cherry picking, let’s look at all of food, weighted by household expenditure. Oh…

The violations themselves seem pretty benign, but good that the fomc has a strong commitment to self-policing

So the third leg of his 3-3-3 plan was what, just for fun?

Crazy how miran just makes things up. Why in the world would he think that immigrant labor is most substitutable for 20-24 year olds?

Don’t even get me started on his insane housing disinflation forecast. No numbers in here but he’s cited them before and they’re the result of data crimes.

Good interview. This answer in particular is a nice summary of the ways Trump’s economic policy gets it wrong.

For August the effective tariff rate (revenue/value) was about 11%, and current policy puts the ceiling at about 17-18%. So line will still go up but probably by about 50%

The stupid thing about all of this is that a less credible fed faces greater constraints when trying to ‘look through’ inflation. It’s literally less optimal for an FOMC with Miran on it to cut rates!
