I saw a tiktok that said 'press is best!' but it still requires hand/eye coordination that is beyond me

Well, I am out of practice for a while but I'm sure they kept the right of election with that change.

I have been encouraged to use it for a few work related things, and to me it seems like extra work. Trying to figure out how to parse my normal thinking process into a question for AI, then having to correct and rework the results.

At home recovering from a minor surgery, I am now a cat seat most of the day

I think one of the first formative memories of feeling 'foreign' in the UK where I grew up. I did not understand the disconnect in public attitude to Diana pre death Vs post death

I was in the republic at my cousin's house and remember TV being interrupted for 'breaking news'

Illuminating blogs on the post office inquiry from @richardmoorhead.bsky.social and just generally thought provoking on ethics in legal practice

Great article, the longer I worked as a criminal lawyer the less convinced I was in jury trials as a panacea (I have yet to work out what the alternative is, but a better functioning cjs inc. appeal courts must be part of it)

I had the benefit of a phonetically spelt Irish name Vs my sister's very Irish name and I'd say it was an advantage in the 90s but I think things have moved on now.

I have been asked about how accurate the police station part is, but as a parent I don't think I can bear to watch

I was devastated once when buying booze (for a BBQ) whilst heavily pregnant. Checkout assistant came over for the under age alarm, looked at my face and said 'oh obviously not' 😭

I still have this 🤣 was pleased to get access to a new version when I went to work at a university

Yes the court seems to have taken the view that there is a key difference (and when in practice I am sure I would have emphasised it) but arguably overriding v autonomy to sa might be irrelevant to age! I think key principle of 1 offence not making propensity is a good safeguard though.

Look at the case of Hanson, one conviction unlikely to make a propensity, unless strikingly similar. This looks to be a previous against an adult when allegation is against child, so arguably a key difference in offending. + The possibility of being prejudicial.

Seems unsurprising that this is an ex partner. 'You wanted me to deal with your rubbish and when I decided to be nice and do it you have squandered millions?!'

We have an overarching guideline for sentencing domestic abuse. Does he want a new specific offence or a statutory uplift? It's different and MPs should be aware of that. The creation of new offences when adequate ones exist will not solve the problem of poor recording.
