I read the book by his niece (I think?) a few years ago and she talks about how he and his brother were raised and it's... Yeah that's how you make a person like that.

It's because he's obsessed with "winning" and bullying people. He wants to do or obtain a thing, then the only acceptable option is for him to get his way no matter what. He cannot handle being told "no" in any capacity. It's how he was raised, to be "tough" and not a "loser". (His dad sucked too)

I finally read it in October, partially for the movie and partially because I figure I should read the book written by my cat's namesake. It's very good!

We saw it at a local theater and it was so gorgeous on a big screen.

I was pretty salty about the changes from the book, some of which were pretty major, but I'm coming around to the idea that this is also a good story in its own right.
