Father Damien Karras from The Exorcist is one of those exceptional characters for me, a fundamentally decent human who'd give his life to save just about anybody else's, yet nevertheless he's trapped in his own completely unearned prison of self-loathing. Just a haunted performance by Jason Miller.

The way I found myself honestly kind of rooting for her, riiiiight up until her scene with Bix and I remembered oh right, she's by no means one of the good guys.

It was one of my go-to reads in high school and I read it again about a year back. It's occasionally insightful, mostly navel-gaze-y, semi-frequently punctuated by the realization he has/had huge hang-ups about women.

The first act alone is so fleshed out in the DC you're left boggling at how much was cut out for theatrical release. Really one of those "completely different movie" alternate cuts.

I wonder if they had to change things up because of COVID restrictions? The Wanda vs. Agatha fight is very obviously the two of them filmed separately in front of green screens/the Volume, and it's bereft of the craft that clearly went into every other element of that show.
