Joint statement by Ranking Members Robert Garcia and Jamie Raskin on Trump Administration decision to defy Epstein Files Transparency Act.
Reposted by Oversight Dems
In Trump's America, rich people can rip off innocent taxpayers and get a pardon. But the President was quick to withhold funding for social services, which doesn't actually hold criminals accountable.

It hurts the very people who are harmed by fraud in the first place.

We are three weeks past the deadline set by Congress, and the DOJ is still trying to cover up the Epstein files.

We haven't forgotten. And we won't stop demanding their full release.

RELEASE THE FILES.
January 12, 2026 at 9:01 PM
If Republicans really cared about fraud, they wouldn't be defending the ONE President in modern history who pardoned fraudsters and fired Inspectors General en masse.

This is selective outrage, and it has to stop.

Oversight Democrats want to talk to Les Wexner and anyone else mentioned by survivors.

We have questions, and we need answers.

Not even a week after invading Venezuela without congressional approval, Trump met with top oil execs at the White House.

It’s unacceptable, and Oversight Democrats are demanding answers as to what this Administration plans to do in Venezuela, who is profiting, and by how much.

While Trump publicly rails against "waste, fraud, and abuse," he has welcomed fraud in his own Administration by purging DOJ attorneys and shuttering ethics offices.

@crockett.house.gov said it: This is the most corrupt Administration in American history.

99 percent of the Epstein files are just sitting at the DOJ. There is no question that this is a White House cover-up.

The work is not stopping. We are fighting every single day, and we WILL get the files released to the public.
January 10, 2026 at 3:08 PM
@repsummerlee.bsky.social: We should approach the issue of waste, fraud, and abuse "with a scalpel, not a mallet."

Republicans aren't trying to improve social service programs; they're trying to end them, while punishing Democrat-led states.

We MUST protect the most vulnerable among us.
January 9, 2026 at 8:41 PM
The fight against fraud should not be a partisan one.

Every American deserves to know EXACTLY where their tax dollars are going, and Democrats are committed to combating fraud wherever it exists.

We have successfully secured subpoenas for Epstein’s closest associates, including billionaire Les Wexner.

Oversight Democrats are fighting every single day until we get the truth about Jeffrey Epstein and his co-conspirators.
January 9, 2026 at 2:15 PM
As @frost.house.gov said, we all agree that we must eliminate fraud WHEREVER it exists.

But that fight starts at the top, and this Administration continues to turn a blind eye to white-collar crime and fraud in Republican-controlled states.

This is not justice.

This Administration is stoking xenophobia and hate.

@repkweisimfume.bsky.social is right: Generalizing entire groups is WRONG, and it does nothing to prove that we're serious about fixing problems in this country.

ICE just killed someone in Minneapolis.

This Administration's violence against communities across our country is horrific and dangerous.

Oversight Democrats are demanding answers on what happened today. We need an investigation immediately.

BREAKING: Oversight Committee Ranking Member Robert Garcia just secured subpoenas for Les Wexner, billionaire businessman and a long-time benefactor of Jeffrey Epstein, and Darren Indyke and Richard Kahn, the executors of the Epstein estate

🚨 BREAKING: Ranking Member @robertgarcia.house.gov and Oversight Dems once again secure key subpoenas in the Epstein case, despite being in the minority.

We’re demanding answers from Epstein’s benefactor, Les Wexner, and the executors of the Epstein estate.

We WILL get the truth.

Republicans can't claim to fight against fraud when their leader has pardoned multiple people who have committed fraud—including George Santos.

@pressley.house.gov breaks it down.
January 7, 2026 at 7:29 PM
State Rep Kristin Robbins and Republican candidate for Governor is spreading conspiracy theories about her own murdered colleague.

Unconscionable. And disqualifying. She should end her campaign immediately.
ANSARI: Can you raise your hand if you think it's appropriate for Trump to link Gov. Walz to the killing of the Hortmans?

REP. KRISTIN ROBBINS: The killer in his vehicle had evidence saying he thought Tim Walz was ordering him to do it. I know the facts will come out.

ANSARI: That is unacceptable

House Republicans want to talk about fraud. And Democrats agree: we should take on fraud wherever it exists—starting at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Mr. President, we are in this fight.

Until we get every last "secret."

The Epstein files are at the center of Trump’s corruption at the DOJ.

The American public wants the truth, and we won’t stop fighting until we get justice for the survivors.
January 6, 2026 at 1:26 AM
The Epstein files production we received from the DOJ last month was both incomplete and overly redacted. Entire pages blacked out with ZERO explanation.

A clear obstruction of justice for survivors and accountability for co-conspirators.

We won’t stop until we get the truth.
January 5, 2026 at 10:19 PM
There’s a lot going on in the world that’s important. And that includes our work on the Epstein files.

We won’t forget, and we won’t be distracted.
January 5, 2026 at 6:40 PM
We are sure it’s just a coincidence, but today is the statuatory date for the DOJ to explain its redactions in the Epstein file productions.

We have not forgotten, and we won’t let up - regardless of the President’s new unconstitutional actions.

It's been a busy year for Oversight Democrats.

We've launched investigations into Epstein's crimes, misconduct at government agencies, and Trump family corruption. And our work is far from over.

Wishing you a Happy New Year from Ranking Member @robertgarcia.house.gov and Oversight Dems.
