The defending champ struck back and now the championship series is tied with 2 classical games left! As they say: “Don’t underestimate the heart of a champion!” This is down to the wire!

GM Ding Liren blundered on the 29th move under significant time pressure! The young Indian grandmaster is now 1 point up with 3 classical games remaining. Knowing Ding’s current form, it’s doubtful if he has the ability to comeback. Will GM Gukesh Dommaraju be the new world chess champ? We’ll see…

The 9th game of the 2024 World Chess Championship match ended in a draw. The score remains tied 4.5 points each! Although Gukesh was highly favored over Ding at the beginning. I’m not sure at this juncture who is the favorite. With 5 classical games left, it’s my view that this match is now 50/50!

Game 5 ends in a draw. But Ding could have played for a win with a Be6 as shown in this position without too much risk. Gukesh would have suffered for quite a while just to draw the game! Missed opportunity for sure or the defending champ just doesn’t have that “killer instinct” at top level chess!

The Indian grandmaster, Gukesh Dommaraju struck back in the 3rd round! It’s interesting that Ding Liren lost on time! Now, the question lingers of whether is he really in form or not? The pundits maybe are right for giving Gukesh D as the favorite to be the world champion.

Ding Liren draws first blood in game 1 of the World Chess Championship. Gukesh has been the favored one but the defending champ has shown resilience. Ding is maybe out of form but very hard to underestimate the heart of a champion! Still a long way to go but this match is now very exciting!

Learning new cooking skills has been my preoccupation the past 2 weeks post-election. It’s a stress reliever just as much as playing golf!

A food for thought while sipping your morning coffee! ☕️

I believe this is as true today than when the book was published originally almost 30 years ago. I think it’s more relevant now when at the time of publication, the “media” he was mentioning does not include yet the social media of today.
