God of War: Egypt, Saros, or FROMsoft something- i don't care what you think of the games, both companies are really good at marketing and know how bad an idea this would be.

Diablo, Elder Scrolls- Maybe when ABK/Bethesda was at its peak, but definitely not now under MS.

Half-life 3- valve could shadow drop it the day after the game awards and it would still potentially be the highest selling game of 2025 in 2 weeks. They don't need mystery statue promo.

at best, this has generated speculation about a surprise announcement at the game awards. however, the game awards has been well known for having surprise announcement for at least a decade, and speculation about surprise announcements has been happening equally as long.

on the flip side, FF15 skips like half of it's intro so they can sell you a separate movie, and 3 of the 4 characters have their backstories largely explored in DLC.

Side note- Pacific drive is a pretty good game. Generally I found it really enjoyable and fun, though I have some annoyances at the late game and ending. Really feels like a game that's a solid 7.5/10 with potential for a sequel or spiritual successor to be a real masterpiece.
