yeah it’s fun! it’s very, well, 2000s scene/emo kid edgy. which makes sense bc a lot of scene culture originated from it lol. a lot of “random things happens out of nowhere and never gets mentioned again” type of humor.

i am slightly tempted to get the classic hot topic GIR hoodie cause i love him

like, Dead End and Owl House are both considered children’s horror cartoons, sort of, but they are SO tame compared to the bologna episode

oh that’s interesting! i’m kinda surprised that people had more of a problem with Vax than with Scanlan. altho i‘ve always found that “bi ppl being a flirt is a negative stereotype” thing to be pretty silly bc… what’s wrong with flirting? it’s not seen as negative when straight ppl do it.

i just really love when characters are explicitly bisexual purely bc they can be. like “here’s a fun fact! anyway back to trying to find my magic amulet!” it’s very charming

trying to make a character that represents ALL people of a certain identity is not only impossible but results in really bland chars. but a char that resonates with one very specific type of person? even someone totally different from me? i’ll chew on them forever

In only 4 episodes they’ve solidly established a group of very different, fully realized characters.

(And they all remain spectacularly hot, your honour.)

controversial characters like Catra and Stolas tend to simultaneously be fan favorites for a reason. people who make a ton of mistakes, who feel like the world is against them, who we see at their lowest points… they’re relatable and memorable

idk i like when characters are unique and messy and flawed and have interests and goals that have nothing to do with their identity labels. there’s value in twee queer romance stories, but they’re never going to resonate as much even one Fucked Up Weird Guy (gender neutral)

i know the original poster wasn’t in good faith anyway, but i just find it interesting how differently these shows handle rep than most modern media and how well it lands even with more mainstream viewers. a lot of queer ppl watch but a lot of straight ppl do too!

one thing i’ve always really liked about hellaverse is that it lets its characters do what’s right for them. for some of them that means being super in-your-face queer, for some it means casually stating “i’m bi” out loud, some stay quiet and some are fully closeted (like andrealphus)
