As someone with a squirrel brain, I love etymology excursions on all sorts of words.
So here's an additional tidbit for ya: the German noun (Schlampe) has gone through the same change, but the adjective (schlampig) still means dirty or untidy. ;-)

That's nice. Doesn't change that where I live it's over 20% and it's threatening the grid.
Additionally, projections are that demand will double in the next five years.
This isn't a Trump issue. This is a runaway capitalism issue.

Where I live, over 20% of electricity goes to datacentres, straining the grid, raising prices, and reducing reliability.
That's not "a percentage point or two".

And about the second point, that's a nice idea, but not how it's actually going. Skill decline is already happening.

There's a fitting Irish phrase for this:

"I hope he dies roaring (for a priest in a village full of protestants)"

(Meaning "I hope, as he lies dying, he realises he's damned for all eternity, begging for forgiveness, and knowing there's none to be had)

Not all technology being pushed is good, ya know.

I'd rather have people able to think for themselves, form their own ideas, and not sit in the dark, because datacentres are taking over the electricity supply.
