Will you always read a script, if given the choice, before watching the movie regardless of project? I would usually read them, but not with Spielberg. I wanna SEE his movie and be surprised. Just curious

This is me with their Denzel Washington song.

HE'S SO DARN COOL
HE'S SO DARN CLEVER

I love this! Also interesting: Is Demme the only American director on this list?

Snoozed this for later in the year for the next season. I've never done very well but I will use your roadmap for a good 2026/27 season!

"It's a lot like Way of Water" is very much a "Waiter! My steak is too juicy, my lobster too buttery" situation

The thing is that this movie has Payakan so it is immediately good and cannot, by law, be bad. Anything other than Payakan is just a bonus.

My favourite thing about being an immigrant in Canada (where whatsapp is also not as universal because of iPhone market saturation and unlimited texting plans) is slowly but surely infecting everyone until they switch to whatsapp.

Wasn't aware that movie could get even better, but delighted about this

"But there are times when a critic truly risks something, and that is in the discovery and defense of the *new*. The world is often unkind to new talent, new creations. The new needs friends."

These lists are my menu! I wanna try it all, both the things I already love and the things I haven't seen

I saw it for the first time last year (not North American, took a while). Most of the time I was like "this is good, but I don't quite get why it's a stone cold classic". And then within five minutes I was sobbing at the FLAWLESS and PEERLESS execution of every payoff. I love it.

Reminds me of how originally Andrew Stanton originally wanted to reveal what happened to Nemo's mom over flashbacks spread across the movie. And it just made his dad feel like a jerk.

They put all the backstory at the beginning and the movie clicked into place. (Stanton did no learn his lesson)

@sepinwall.bsky.social a bit too confrontational of a post to share on the discord (at least I feel like it is, is this me being too Canadian?) but I feel this is another read of Pluribus

As a devout listener of the insider podcasts, i actually did not think he was capable of saying anything mean so this is legit impressive. Good for him
