Sol Valley looses all of its luster when you realize there are only three things to do in it and also you have to traverse it without fast travel so many times

The way Myles becomes most useful is ironically when he leaves your side and becomes a remote support character. In certain rooms you can radio him from the map and he'll give hints about terrain or puzzles - *if you want*. Or you can just ignore him (sometimes you can't) and do it yourself. Good!

Myles - and the whole partner system in general - feels like an element from the game's first incarnation or a new element tacked on after the game got rebuilt from the ground up which clashes with the typical Metroid aesthetic. It's not *bad*. It's just not blended super well.

And two, Myles' presence sprinkles light tutorializing of certain gameplay elements - pointing out interactables, giving clues for how to defeat enemies, etc. But the game already had a more typical tutorial stage prior to meeting him.
