Traveling is, for me, about meeting people. Bourdain seemed to understand that. I've come to think being someone Bourdain would have found interesting is a better goal than just tracking down where Bourdain went, seeing what he saw, and eating what he ate.

i tried to just at least to be all in japanese once by continuously saying i had no interest in anything it showed me that was in english, but since i have many friends who speak english, it didn't stick.

i feel the same -- then I connect with a local business or community or person in someway. I wish I could get rid of reels.
