The drag queen was lowered in Key West and 2026 officially started in the US. May it be better than 2025.

Every day reinforces the fact that the president of the US is narcissist with zero empathy. Today's evidence is Trump's post on Truth Social in response to the murder of Rob Reiner and his wife.

Damn. This is what it would have sounded like if Ian Anderson had played the recorder rather than the flute.
Today in “Dudes Rock”:

A dude playing Dire Straits’s “Sultans of Swing” guitar solo on…a recorder.

The presidential pardon power needs to be eliminated or at the very least limited to commuting sentences rather than outright pardons.

Bluesky is doing to me what X used to: get me rilled up over the stupidity.
The difference is that on X it was the stupidity of the posters, while here it's the stupidity of world in which I find myself.

As Robin Westman, the Minnesota catholic school shooter, had "Breivik" painted on one of his guns, a reference to a Norwegian neo-nazi mass killer, I'm predicting the FBI's domestic terrorism investigation will die a quiet death.

The shortsighted thinking of the administration continues to amaze me. They have imposed tariffs on imported food while also arresting those who harvest the food grown in the US. Imported food will become more expensive due to tariffs. And domestic food prices will increase due to lower production.

"There are no Epstein files up here! Maybe they blew away? Who can tell? That's what people are saying. Maybe. Maybe not."

The fact that the political or religious viewpoint of the guy who ambushed and killed two firefighters in Idaho have not been released leads me to believe the shooter is a white male and most likely politically conservative and probably Christian. We would have been told if they were not.

This is truly awesome.
This is the best team crossover video I've ever seen.

TACO or "Trump Always Chickens Out" is basically how traders are reading Trump's tariff antics.
From what I've read, Trump doesn't like TACO

The fact that I had to stop and ask myself "Which one?" when reading the headline to Kristof's article tells you how fucked up America's foreign policy is.

South Asia is on the cusp of a major conflagration and to calm things down, the US government can only field a JV team led by Marco Rubio.

The fact that the MAGA right is melting down over the ascension of Pope Leo XIV, calling him a 'Marxist' and 'woke' is a clear sign the Pope is on the side of the marginalized.

Sums the idiocy of Trump's tariffs.

I received yet another tonedeaf email from the Democrats telling me what bad things the GOP is doing, and asking for money. It's like the only action the Dems can imagine is asking for donations.

Free tip to the Dems:
Stop asking for money and start doing something tangible.

My fear is that Trump throws Musk under the bus (which he will) and everyone goes home thinking they've won and that US democracy has been saved.

People need to keep protesting until Trump is gone and all his executive orders have been rescinded.

Seattle "Hand's Off" protest. No idea how many, but I'd say several tens of thousands.

I predict that the tariffs will fail in a way not loudly spoken of.
Tariffs will weaken foreign currencies vs. the $ at a rate roughly equivalent to the imposed tariffs on that country. This will leave the cost of their goods in the US roughly unchanged, and US goods even more expensive.
