I'm really sad to hear about his passing. He was a knowledgeable, friendly and supportive person and I am honoured to have met him, he was always so kind.

One of my first dinosaur plushies was one of those! (With more recent @palaeoplushies.com rendition for comparison.)

It's a word for "soft toy", it is an Americanism that originates from "plush animal", with plush describing the type of fabric they're made from.
I like how it lines up with other European languages (peluche etc.) and I think it's a more universal description for what I make!

I continue to sell brooches and pins inspired by historic artworks from public collections!

Each one comes mounted in a greetings card which depicts the original artwork on the front and provides context for the art inside, and I do free first-class postage in the UK.

I'll be making them again soon, but they're quite popular and I can only make 3 at once because they're so complicated they'd drive me crazy if I had to do more than that at a time!

My wife is an illustrator who does a lovely range of seasonal and nature themed cards, prints, teatowels (sometimes with awful puns I have repeatedly failed to veto). All her illustrations are hand-drawn and coloured. She also does commissions, with custom maps being a speciality: www.coostie.co.uk

I make hand-wrapped wirework jewellery - I work with a range of stones, but my favourite is labradorite:

Gars historically haven't had the same protections as sportfish like bass or trout. But thanks to folks like @solomonrdavid.bsky.social, @matthewlmiller.bsky.social + others, people - and legislators (www.mprnews.org/story/2023/0...) - are starting to appreciate these awesome fish #25DaysofFishmas

A unique feature of gars is those distinctive armor-like scales! Unlike a typical fish’s overlapping scales, gars have interlocking “ganoid” scales that are made up of a material similar to the enamel on our teeth. The name “Lepisosteus” even means “bony scale” 🦴 #25DaysofFishmas
