Some days I just feel like messin’ with people. I didn’t get enough sleep last night because my flight didn’t land until 0130 hrs. I am not well behaved when I haven’t had sufficient rest. Ring my doorbell when I’m tired and I just can’t guarantee which one o my personas will greet you.

A lot of you all won’t follow me after this but my work as a theologian is about the liberation of oppressed people. This sermon contains the kind of harmful rhetoric LGBTQ people hear every Sunday. Attacking sex workers and trans people is the dirty work that supports white supremacy.

Maine’s Governor Janet Mills is a real one. It’s the body language for me. Look at how she sips water after she coolly tells him, “See you in court.” Then when he tries to scare her about her future in politics she just waves him off as if to say, “Boy please! I’m not thinking about you!”

Malcolm X was assassinated 60 years ago. Actor Ossie Davis called him, “our Black shining prince.” White people at the time tried to do what many white supremacists continue trying to do: demonize him. Yet his legacy and Black peoples’ love for him remains strong.

I hate to see Black people play into the hands of racists who have never accepted us as human beings. I’m sure he had his reasons, but I wish he had a proper team of consultants who would have warned him about the consequences of making that commercial. And during Black History Month! WTH!!!

I’ve been working in my own community. Neighbors decided they wanted to put up a block club sign (often done here in Chicago) but didn’t want it to be a proscriptive policy. Instead, they came up w/words they feel convey how we want to be known. Not perfect but I’m happy w/how we worked together.
