The biggest hurdle, ironically, is probably Todd McFarlane himself. He's said numerous times that he wants to direct it, which is probably the biggest setback in the whole development cycle. Like Frank Miller, Todd should probably stick to the medium he's best at.

Even as a Spawn fan, I'm skeptical that a Spawn movie could be good right out of the gate. The plot gets kind of lost about 10 issues in, but the main thing it had going for it was that the art was great. I'd prefer a live-action TV show, if they can manage it. It's probably better long-form.

Oh, I have a theory on how he could get everybody continuously talking about him all the time. He could, y'know, release those files he's in with his best buddy. Nobody would shut up about him for years to come.
