One year ago today, we said goodbye to a leader,a champion of all British Columbians, and a guiding force. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the hearts he lifted, and the hope he inspired - particularly in one of our darkest times. Thank you, John.

Tonight, on the longest and darkest night of the year, families from Afghan, Azeri, Iranian, Kurdish, Tajik and Uzbek communities across British Columbia will gather to celebrate Yalda. For thousands of years, Yalda has marked the renewal of the sun and the triumph of light over darkness.

Thursday night, I joined an ancient Hanukkah tradition - the menorah lighting. The message of light, hope, and resilience is age old, and particularly poignant in light of the recent tragedy in Australia.

Today is Jane Austen’s 250th birthday!

Two and a half centuries later, Jane still reminds us that women’s voices matter. Her wit and wisdom broke barriers in a world that underestimated women - and her words continue to inspire people today.

Making the Christmas rounds post session. First, with Jennifer Whiteside in New West I got to be a judge in an ugly sweater contest. Then, to Paul Choi and Rohini Aurora’s open houses. Finally, back in New West at Century House for Peter Julian’s Christmas Party

The Fraser Valley and Sumas Prairie rivers are expected to continue to rise due to an increase in rain.

People should be aware, have a plan and take steps to prepare for potential impacts.

Every year on Dec. 6, we remember the women whose lives were stolen by violence and we recommit to building a future where every woman and girl is safe, valued and free. Remembrance must be matched with action because mourning without change is not enough.
