I've just added a Pomodoro mode to LifeTimer. Now you can easily switch between the life events/clock mode and the Pomodoro mode to get a great looking Pomodoro app on your Windows desktop

Just posted on reddit about DeskNote here: www.reddit.com/r/windowsapp...

Check it out and let me know what you think

(It turns out that marketing is way harder than development)

Rate my desktop. Here are four of the recent windows store apps I've been posting about working together on my desktop. I really like the webgl clouds. www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWRS...

I've just had my latest app approved in the Store! This one is for people who hate unproductive, overpopulated meetings . I've tried a lot to improve the first run experience and typical usage UX for this one.

It is lucky that I actually use all of the apps I've pushed to the store - I've found a ton of QoL issues by installing and using them as an end user that I wouldn't have seen as a developer.

There are probably still more to find, but IMO the apps have already been improved a lot.

I can't help myself. I have another Store app ready for packaging.

I'm going to move away from the freemium model for this one -it just doesn't seem to be working. Let's see if I get any further by charging an upfront fee.

I have another day where I'm stuck in a cafe all day. I can't work on HudBuilder today (bad planning!), so I am having a play with vibe coding the proof-of-concept for a text game.

No idea if the concept is even viable - but that's part of the fun of rapid prototyping.

Gaming update:

Finally finished Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader. 160 hours - you certainly get value for money with CRPGs. Especially an OwlCat one.

Not sure what to play next. I'm getting the space sim itch again so I might dust of the HOTAS and give X4: Foundations a shot.

Hit my goal of releasing 4 different apps to the Microsoft Store in a month!
DeskNote: desknote.app
DeskWeb: deskweb.app
LifeTimer: parseclifetimer.app
DeskQuote: deskquote.app

I have some bugfixes to roll out, then I'm getting back to full time SAAS development

Going to try and finish the feature/bug list for DeskNote today and get it into a releasable state, but I'm playing whack-a-mole with WinUI event sequencing issues. I may have to formally rework the core logic around the State pattern if I can't iron them out.

About half-way through the feature list of my next app. DeskNote will be a Windows Sticky Note replacement for people who want more harmonious and less cluttered desktop notes:

Ok, it's a clock app ... BUT it will look great on your windows desktop, and it also tracks significant life events

LifeTimer -my second app - is now live on LaunchIgniter

You know what the world needs? Another desktop clock!
...
Ok, hear me out. What about a desktop clock that looks neat and also tracks multiple significant events in your life?
Here is the first look at LifeTimer, coming to the Windows Store soon:

Good news: I got my first paid customer for DeskWeb!
Bad news: They immediately filed a 'it isn't not working' support ticket :(

When the going gets tough, the tough add a 'reset all settings' option and even more logging.

Just had the realization that I can spin DeskWeb into a second product with about a week of development work. #buildinpublic

Some lessons learned from a week of trying to launch DeskWeb into the wide world:

- most people won't get it
- the rest won't want to pay for it
- getting 1 new user a day is a not a failure, momentum builds slowly
- the important thing is the friends we make along the way

Decided to knuckle down and do some work on HudBuilder. Spiked out sparklines and gauges - almost like a real dashboard tool. Stepping back from the solution for a couple of weeks has helped me notice a bunch of QOL issues that also need to be fixed as a priority.

Continually fighting with myself to choose between focusing on my 'big idea' passion project and a whole bunch of 'quick win' ideas that keep bubbling up.

Context switching is killing me, but I also don't want to focus exclusively on the one idea - which may not work out.

Bad news: I just found a licensing bug in DeskWeb that was stopping paid users from getting their entitlements

Good news: Zero customer impact because nobody has yet bought a paid license :p

Submitting the patch now.

I had to kill WebPaper. It became clear that Microsoft were never going to fix the payment issue ... on THAT account.
So, I created a new partner account and after even more support calls I finally have a working payment stream.

Week 2 of my journey to get a working payment profile set up in the Microsoft Store. I have managed to fight my way past the AI bots and I am now dealing with real support people.
My quick win side hustle idea has turned into a major distraction. Do I push on or cut my losses?

Second time lucky with the store submission. The extra testing paid off! Now to work on the upgrade options and add the store link to the support site
