It's past time to be loudly opposing the ongoing attack on the education system and boycotting gen AI and the billionaire losers betting our country's economy and resources on this slop. But if you haven't yet, today is a good day to start

Which is similar to the article's discussion about "skimming" words; I can skim words as a skilled reader, house and horse will never mix

But w/ math a step can be skimmed & the resulting answer can be off in a weird way, which is particular of dyscalculia the same way letter-mixups is of dyslexia

Anyway ditch amazon and target (if u haven't already literally why) and buy from small artists and businesses, especially this holiday season. You're literally putting food on their table and a roof over their head instead of funding The Most Evil Men Imaginable.

To clarify math shortcuts - my multiplication tables had nursery rhymes and anthropomorphic number riddles or straight up finger tools (x9 multiplication table can be done on your fingers, or anything that equals a multiple of 3 can be divided by 3, e.g. 153 as 1+5+3=9 so 153 is divisible by 3)

I had the opposite, as I'm ADHD + dyscalculic, & dyscalculic kids struggle with math but are usually excellent readers.

How I memorized math short cuts resonates with these "reading shortcuts" other ppl seem to take, tho.

I was a spelling bee contestant + college reading lvl since elementary

This study should also include crossover data with how many people are dyslexic tbh

Also @5calls.org has some handy scripts and lists to help, including tracking what/who you've called and finding relevant info based on your zip code.
