Not long after I started my lab, a prominent scientist told me it was “impossible” to be a successful PI and a mother

Don’t ever let the naysayers tell you it can’t be done - of course it can!

#HappyMothersDay this weekend to all the amazing scientist mamas raising their wonderful kids 🥰

We are all proud co-owners of Canada — and that includes the CBC.
Public broadcasting belongs to us, not corporations.
Thanks for protecting what’s ours

The Triumph of Doubt by @drdavidmichaels.bsky.social is more relevant than ever, and a fascinating read, on “…the use and abuse of science in the public health realm.”

Note rebuttal from industry & EC, that we provided no data to support our concerns. Really. If industry wants to dilute a regulatory assay, the onus is NOT on regulators to conduct validation testing for them.

FYI, Metals industry & EC proposed OECD Test Guideline to weaken the long-established regulatory gastric assay for measuring metal release (to estimate potential metals exposure in risk assessments). Debate published in RegTox&Pharm Nov/Dec 2024 (www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...)

A fantastic last column, thank you! ...and I learned a new word: kakistocracy, a government that is ruled by the least suitable, able, or experienced people in a state or country (Cambridge Dictionary)
So long, and thanks for all the fish. Final NYT column is up. News about future plans probably tomorrow morning www.nytimes.com/2024/12/09/o...
