From this earliest announcement there was a strict sign-off with no changes to the recs.

I’ll be the most interested in the Covid vaccine consent form when that is released…

Do you all see now why we’ve been railing against the endemicity designation? And why Biden should have prioritized this?

CDC director approves vaccine recommendations from ACIP, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices: Covid vaccines should be available after "informed consent" and pediatricians should split up the chickenpox vaccine from the MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) shot.

Long Covid is the most common chronic illness among children now. Congratulations?

The Great Barrington Dec. aka the “let covid rip” policy, legitimated the death of over a million Americans, is disabling of tens of millions more, & failed to achieve its own instrumental goal, ending the pandemic. It did succeed hwvr in gutting public health & eroding public trust in science
Five years ago today, we authored the Great Barrington Declaration, arguing for focused protection instead of lockdowns. A wholehearted thank you to the almost one million co-signers. We were proven right.

I would as well. I was pretty shocked I could only find like two papers testing cleaning supply fumes and mask effectiveness against them.

My initial guess is that the chlorine gas may be binding to the surgical mask material in some sort of
reaction.

Shows something’s better than nothing 🤷🏻‍♂️
patbiosteamist.bsky.social
There is actually scarce literature on this subject. However, from what little research we do have on it, it does show that wearing a mask (surgical or KN95 in this study) - does reduce the levels of chlorine gas and nitrogen trichloride gas inhaled from bleach

Why I hate Verily, and why they are fumbling the ball but keeping the bag with our covid wastewater monitoring.

Also why I despise Stanford’s WastewaterSCAN program, for making the usurping of Biobot Analytics possible.

Verily (Google Subsidiary - for now) is who has our 5 year Covid wastewater contract and has fumbled the ball but kept the bag for the past 2-3 years now.

And guess who we can thank for this?

Maskless Fucking Mandy Cohen.

It was one of her first terrible decisions as CDC Director.
patbiosteamist.bsky.social
Doing a video on Verily later today.

Because if they don’t have at least one hater - then I will have died.

But I know they will have more, as Biobot Analytics and the people that work there hate them as much or more than I do.

Here's the latest variant picture for the United States, to mid-September.

The XFG.* "Stratus" variant continued it’s dominance, rising slightly to 84% frequency.

NB.1.8.1 "Nimbus" rose slightly to 8%.

N95 are highly effective against both aerosols and larger particulates.

Feel blessed to have had a PTO day today.

Cleaned about half the house (wearing an N95 😷 because cleaning fumes are bad for you).

Designed some new models for 3D printing.

Went to the track - ran another 6 min 21 second pace single mile (while wearing an N95 😷). 2nd single mile - 6 min 45 sec.

Here’s an oldie but a goodie on the smoke analogy, and how it should be transitioned to a puff cloud, or spritz bottle analogy.

You can take care of sick family without getting sick from them. It is possible.

These are some of the most insane and frustrating conversations I have had with people in regards to Covid.

patbiosteamist.bsky.social
So many conversations have started (you’re going have to get over that and just accept getting ill from them), while also implying that if you don’t you’re going to be a bad parent.

Like y’all I work in the medical field. You work in the medical field. We have expertise to avoid this…

patbiosteamist.bsky.social
One of the craziest things is parents of kids that regularly act like there is nothing that can be done to prevent getting sick from your kid. Like masks and goggles exist my guy.

You can wear them while taking care of your sick kid, and then shower, wash your hands and suck after.

If you haven’t already looked through it or aren’t already aware, this is the assessment by the WHO on that very issue:

bsky.app/profile/patb...

They recommend the use of direct deposition as opposed to droplet as a part of their puff cloud model of explanation.
patbiosteamist.bsky.social
Link to the Puff-Cloud Model proposed by the WHO that recognizes both simultaneous modes of airborne and droplet transmission for Covid and other respiratory initiated viruses.

Inhalation, fomite transfer, direct droplet contact with eyes/nose/mouth all cause infection

cdn.who.int/media/docs/d...
Image from the WHO puff-cloud model, recognizing both airborne and fomite transmission for Covid infection. Examples from the WHO of how Covid can infect you through inhalation, direct contact of infected virus (spittle, sneezes, coughing, talking) into eyes/nose/mouth, and either direct or indirect contact between infected surfaces your hands and your eyes/nose/mouth.
patbiosteamist.bsky.social
It’s not a farce. Droplet transmission and fomite transmission of SARS-CoV-2 occurs. Just at a lower rate/proportion of cases than airborne.

Airborne is the predominant route but is far from the only one for Covid transmission.

Protective measures need to be taken against each of the forms

Another call for sources: I'm reporting on pediatric Covid vaccine access. If you've had trouble finding pediatric doses in stock, or if your child was turned away, I'd love to hear from you: [email protected].

Thanks to those who replied to my pregnancy callout; that story will be out soon.

… alternative is that Covid vaccine consent form. They may be finalizing that piece of medical BS prior to release.

Remember the 6 points of misinformation and disinformation recommended by the ACIP majority position of the committee?

That could also be what is delaying this.
patbiosteamist.bsky.social
This is highly unusual. In the past everything is signed off within a few days at most.

They’re either delaying this indefinitely to prevent access to Covid vaccines.

Or they are working on a plan to completely rewrite the recommendations outside of what ACIP did is my guess.

Another…

What in the world is the acting CDC director Jim O’Neill doing?

I have been checking every day and none of the recommendations have been signed off yet.

It has been like 2 weeks since the ACIP meeting. What the hell?

Is this the new strategy? Delay to deny?
