Imagine being a student and being told that using AI in any way is grounds for expulsion while those in the industry they want to succeed in are taking advantage of it left and right. I can only imagine it feels like being setup for failure in a system already setup to exploit them

In some part it is due to the broken promise of education. This generation was raised to believe that if they worked hard they could be anything. Instead they are en masse becoming over qualified wage slaves. I dont blame them for not engaging in good faith with a system built to exploit them

This sounds intentionally hard to determine under duress and thats quite concerning

Technically 36%, but the point stands. It would be interesting if non votes counted in some way. Half thought out example, but if the "no votes" are higher than either candidate, we hold a second round of elections. Would be interesting to see what that would do to turnout

Agreed. It made sense when communities were smaller, but these days all these arbitrary lines serve as meaningless dials that those in power can tune to their wishes. I wont claim to know a good alternative, but the status quo no longer seems necessary or effective

Another radical idea is to extend voting from a one day event to multiple days. There is no reason we cannot have a whole week for voting. Granted, that week will be absolute hell watching the results trickle in, but it makes it accessible

Part of the problem is that discourse in America has created so much distrust in online voting that it feels impossible to apply logic to it at this point. That coupled with the massive incentive for highly skilled bad actors to interfere makes me doubtful that any proposed system would be adopted

All voting systems are hackable. I believe what we need is a system that allows constitutes to check the status of their vote securely. Im imagining some sort of verification hash that you can check to assert your vote was counted accurately, but without giving away who/what you voted for

I admit to being uninformed of the differences and criticisms being discussed in this post. Can anyone provide a TL;DR or resources to understand more? Im curious where I end up sitting in this discussion

How's the Healthcare plan? Does it offer dental?

I find it telling that the phrase "illegal domestic terrorist organization" implies the existence of "legal domestic terrorist organizations". Given that 70% of domestic terrorism is from right wing extremists according to NIJ, this is chilling

All of the other phrases refer to chronically online memes, so I'd be willing to bet that this one is as well. Thankfully, the source is still alive, so we might get an answer from them

More than apologize, they should lose their jobs. If people are being fired over their responses to the indecent, people should lose their jobs for this too.

Maybe its my Google algorithm, but a search or "up right down down down" instantly brings up helldivers content. I guess I'm more shocked at news outlets for not catching this

I had this same thought. Not sure why people seem to be missing this...

What tool are you using?

Good to know! thanks!

Wouldn't this also give them the power to get off of the lists that they are on? Maybe a distinction between block lists and follow lists could help alleviate my concerns

In the span of 4 years, a cousin, childhood friend, college friend, and previous partner all came out as trans. They opened my eyes to the existence and issues of trans people. Learning how to be a good friend and ally took conscious effort and growth, but so does anything worth doing well.

To add to this, dems leadership have frequently been wrong and needed to be steered in the right direction. We see this actively today with the lack of clear direction from leadership and vast array of tone deaf responses from our representatives. We fight fascism by inviting productive discourse

To pop the stack of the conversation a bit, I think it is valid to call out issues within our allies. United doesn't mean blind compliance with the message from leadership. We need to invite discourse to ensure all voices are heard and that the best outcomes can be reached.

The official White House explanation reads like it was written by Grok or ChatGPT. An LLM might not know that 4 > 0
