I've read reddit threads where it's connected to using Apple's Pages app with iCloud and leaving the Pages app open, but it doesn't seem to happen on any device but this one. (I use Pages to avoid Google Docs when I can.)

(Which is not to say you shouldn't have rules, boundaries, etc. Just that one of my operating theories about modern parenting is that today's parents almost know *too* much about what their kids are doing and the tools available seem granular and useful but rarely accomplish what parents want.)
