Music is moonlight in the gloomy night of life – Jean Paul Richter
As part of my way of getting through the stay-at-home requirements of covid-19, I am playing through all my classical music. It's a way for me to connect to some music I've not listened to in a while, but also to get reminders of great concerts as I listen. (I have just been reminiscing about

The importance of this book seems so much greater now even than it was when first published a few years ago, despite it being so needed then.
Pleased to say Trans Britain is now back in stock at Amazon, although my new publisher seems to still be struggling to get the Kindle edition back up. Having a publisher go bust certainly makes a lot of work to repair.

I have a particular affinity for string quartets as a form of musical expression. Currently working my way through the Buchberger box set of complete Haydn ones - 23 CDs' worth! #classicalmusic

Just listening to #RachelPodger’s wonderful recording of von Biber’s Rosary Sonatas - out of print, but tracked down & gifted by a friend. Written in the late 1600s these show the likes of #TonyIommi & #JimmyPage weren’t the first to retune their instruments’ strings (scordatura) by some 300 years!

Sorry to read Tom Lehrer has died. His songs are one of my go-to sources when I need a smile. “Poisoning pigeons in the park”, “I hold your hand in mine”, & “The masochism tango” are particular favourites.

Looking forward to being part of the team representing #NottinghamshireHealthcare at #NottsPride25 today. Feels really important to be a visible ally this year. #NottsPride

I was discussing exactly these concerns with colleagues on an @nhsconfed.org hosted meeting of NHS Chairs a little earlier today @rogerkline.bsky.social - though not as eloquently as the summary you linked to!
An excellent summary of the shortcomings in the changes to Healthwatch, the National Guardian Office and the effectiveness of raising concerns proposed by the Dash Review www.bmj.com/content/390/...

Just watched this fantastic documentary. Thanks so much @morganmpage.bsky.social - such beautifully told life stories, journeys, & histories.
Enigma, the new documentary on April Ashley and Amanda Lear starring yours truly and directed by thee Zackary Drucker, premieres tonight on HBO Max in the US and Crave in Canada! Strap in for a surprisingly controversial lil doc!

There were many important, specific questions asked, though not always answered.

Yup, @nehoc.bsky.social! I also like Margaret Atwood's description of Aunt Lydia in 'The Testaments' as an "iron fist in a leather glove in a woollen mitten". Beware seeing us as a woollen mitten!
I think I've finally reached the point in my life where people no longer mistake my kindness for weakness. I'm a nice guy but I've got plenty of "fuck you" and "fuck off" left in me.

Recently started watching a Vincent Price cooking show “Cooking Price-Wise”…. for real! It was evidently shown in the UK in 1971, on Tuesday’s at 11.15pm! The episodes on “Potatoes”, “Bacon”, & “Rice” confirm it is as outrageous as it sounds!
