I’ve done my vote - no VFF members, no hard right talking heads, no one who used racebaiting dog whistles or seemingly faked qualifications, or anyone who signed the TPU pledge.

If you’re posting it then it NEEDS to be in the mailbox by Tuesday or Midday Saturday for drop boxes & Special votes!

Just checking in - have you voted in the local body election yet?

We’re over halfway through the vote return period now and while numbers are up a bit in a lot of places, more votes mean better representation, more equitable decision making processes, and better community outcomes!

🚨 VFF & Selwyn local elections

This is a big election, with eight councillors not standing for re-election, so it is up for grabs

At the centre of these elections is Elizabeth Mundt. She was door-stopped in 2022 over her VFF connection. She ran Upskilling for Local Government.

Remember - if you want to send a message to the coalition that you are not impressed with them on issues important to you, you should vote against their candidates in the local elections. Act is running candidates, NZFirst is aligned with VFF candidates, National party members are running as well.

I’ve found a lot genuinely believe it - especially those connected to NZFirst. Because for years media told them that party was centrist when it’s clearly not anywhere near that now.

Certainly tried - and I get them being upset at the things they said online being in one place. They still think they’re good, centrist candidates - which also doesn’t surprise me, most people think they’re centrist. But they also claimed I was pushing free speech rules as far as they were concerned

Had a visit from some candidates from one of my videos today, in the middle of a market. They were very vocal in their displeasure which isn’t a surprise. Lots to process but they genuinely felt that their “personal beliefs wouldn’t impact our ability to do the job as a Councillor”. Then why run?
