I am guessing MacDermid is in as well as Matinpalo.

This could be an improvement on the bland outdoor mall & concrete that is there now. Of course, it was supposed to be an improvement on the concrete, dilapidated buildings and above ground parking 10 years ago, but that didn't happen.

Nor did the infamous revenue waterfall didn't happen either.

So in about 10 years or so Lansdowne 3.0 will be proposed probably including adding the other 1/3 of the arena because the new "event centre" will be found to be too small.
And also, of course, because the partnership is not generating the revenue expected.

in Lansdowne 1.0 the City build half a stadium. So the other half of stadium is naturally being proposed for Lansdowne 2.0. Kind of a bizarre when to build new stadiums.
In Lansdowne 2.0 the arena is posed to be about 2/3 the size of the current area.

For what it is worth the Senators do not have any player named Anton.

It is getting to the seats that is the disruption for the fans and will impact attendance IMHO.

9-10 years of construction could fatally injure the CFL, PWHL, CPL, OHL and NSL teams.

This is the best reason to opt for increased annual maintenance and upgrades of the existing site instead of Lansdowne 2.0. At least until we see how much the PWHL can grow and whether the CFL team falters or continues to exist.

2. The main reason Ottawa has been the weakest link in the CFL is that the stadium is in the wrong place. It's in a residential area bounded by a canal, which can't be moved, and north-south streets that can't be widened.

Lansdowne 2.0 will not fix these problems just as Lansdowne 1.0 could not.

There have always been two major problems with the stadium.
1. CFL is not the most stable professional league even though the games are usually exciting. A team in Halifax would help, but Ottawa has always been the weakest link. The rules changes will not help.

Ottawa has great sports fans & eager entertainment customers. Build them in the right place. They will succeed including with lots of housing, retail, commercial & cultural places. Can we please have a little long term vision & stop making the same mistakes over & over expecting a different result?
October 25, 2025 at 10:26 PM
We have more than 50 years of evidence to prove this is the wrong location. That does not mean that Ottawa does not need a good stadium or event venue. It just means Lansdowne is not the right place. It is the right place for a farmers market, parks, playgrounds, wading pools, outdoor rinks etc...
