Ottawa just voted 15–10 for Lansdowne 2.0, a “revitalization” that saddles taxpayers with decades of debt so OSEG can call it partnership.

The city gets the bill, OSEG gets the benefit.
A ridiculous decision that will define Ottawa’s future for generations. Shame on council.

“Ottawa has an opportunity to lead, not follow. The team is thriving. The fan base is real. The moment is now.”

Absolutely: the city can lead or cave to the profit driven plan (profit that may never appear) to spend more and get less. It’s on council to set the path and our future.
Lansdowne 2.0 doesn’t give Ottawa what it needs. The plan is built around the limits of a public-private deal that leaves the city with hundreds of millions in new debt for a project that won’t serve residents well.

Somebody should tell Hegseth and Trump that dominant faith in Venezuela is Christianity.
When top aides reflexively back violent threats from an impulsive president, they aren’t protecting the country; they’re accelerating the worst outcomes.

A quick summary of what we are going to lose with Lansdowne 2.0
October 26, 2025 at 2:38 PM
Lansdowne 2.0 will fail for the same reasons Lansdowne 1.0, Frank Clair Stadium & the Civic Centre failed. The venues are in a residential area bordered by a World Heritage Cite with access only by 3 streets. All 3 cannot be expanded to accommodate the traffic necessary to make the venues viable.
Lansdowne 2.0 is a key city-building project with major benefits for our community.

If the city's contribution to Lansdowne was to fix transit and active transport along Bank to help get people to and from the stadium, I would be all for it.

Instead we get corporate welfare while we can't afford to run the trains.

I predict a future #Ottawa mayor will try to upload Lansdowne to the province because Ottawa cannot afford the debt costs, let alone the operating costs.
The cost for Lansdowne 2.0 is up. Debt is increasing from $331 million to $340.2 million and total project cost is up to $483 million (this includes parking and the retail podium costs). #Ottawa #Ottnews

"policy makers have the power to establish rules pertaining to militaries and developers that prevent a slide into mechanized killing..."
We’re seeing more and more #AI being used on the battlefield, moving humans further away from crucial decision making, but is the trajectory of AI on the battlefield inevitable?

Yanitra (@yanitrak.bsky.social) has the answer 👇
October 15, 2025 at 1:10 PM
If we cannot ensure that there must be meaningful human control over the use of force by #AutonomousWeapons then there there is little hope that any governance of #AI will be effective. There needs to be a redline and killing or injuring a person is it. New binding international law is needed. Now.
129 countries, the Secretary General, civil society, and the public all agree — we need new international law to #StopKillerRobots. #UNGA80
