trying this new style - a kind of comic book / beefcake style - drawing freehand onto ipad using patreon's new inks and watercolours. Quite pleased with my progress! Needing more models to help, of course! Hope you like these!

Just to be clear, an English degree - learning to critically assess texts - is actually one of the most dangerous for people such as Badenoch.

An educated population, able to bring hundreds of years of context to statements in a dawning age of AI slop and attention-seeking dishonesty is also vital.

So, the plan is to cut English, the arts, and sociology - the degrees that actually study culture - while on another part of your platform claiming to “defend” British culture.

It’s performance nationalism with a reading age of seven.
Badenoch: Curb students taking 'rip-off' degrees such as English
The performing arts, sociology and anthropology are among the subjects the Conservatives would like to cut

I’ll have some Christmassy-themed ( and Halloween themed!) pictures for sale on my stall at ‘Abstract Autumn’ at Overdraught bar, 855 Stockport rd, Levenshulme, on Thursday October 17th at 7pm. There’ll be lots of other artists and DJ Jeremy playing his records!

Even we most devoted #DoctorWho aficionados, who know existing novelisations, transcripts, iPlayer, archives, will find surprise and novelty in the book.

I had terrific fun editing it. Steve and Paul have done a marvellous job, and Paul’s distinctive accompanying illustrations are a joy, too.

Other recent narrative BBC Books acknowledge that #DoctorWho original episodes are readily available online, and so writing fresh perspectives on familiar stories is a preferred approach.

… while for fan enthusiasts, there’s an additional frisson of pleasure and recognition in recalling the source material.

As a decades-long #DoctorWho devotee, I remind myself that newer fans are coming to these stories for the first time — and approaches like this can be an appealing entry point.

The retellings adopt a “1,001 Nights” approach; like the best of the novelisations, they have a distinctive, accessible prose style all ages can enjoy, sprinkled with vocabulary that amuses and surprises.

Stories can be read and enjoyed with no prior knowledge of #DoctorWho episodes they allude to…

This book by @stevecolewriter.bsky.social and @paulmagrs.bsky.social reimagines #DoctorWho stories.

Not traditional “novelisation” versions; each of 22 tales offers unexpected, delightful new insights and perspectives on moments and characters from the show.

Today's youtube video is both a Dr Who episode commentary - and a live drawing session...! As I watch 'creature from the pit' part 3 from 1979 and splash some watercolours about.

For the past four years it's been my day of getting into the right frame of mind for beginning work on drafting a new autumn book. For the past four years it was the Puffin Classics Doctor Who range. i had a lovely time writing about Robin Hood, the Argonauts, Alice in Wonderland and Dracula.

Since 2021 we've had a day out at Alderley Edge on the last day of September. It's all about walking in the woods, taking in the views and soaking up the mystical vibes of the place.

I think I've got a full draft of my first proper stage play. Not to get ahead of myself...! It's short and it might not even work. But it's about something brilliant that I just had to write about. And I've got a first draft...!

So I took a deep breath and proposed myself as the artist. I sent a whole batch of pictures to everyone involved. I told them: I really want to do this.

And I’m glad to say they agreed to it!
I really hope you'll like the book.
