If you'd asked me six months before this came out to imagine what collab would be the least likely thing I'd ever want to listen to ever, without missing a beat I'd have said, "The Sisters of Mercy produced by Jim Steinman". Then I heard this, and I can tell you I had to rethink a few things.

I completely agree, and I don't think any of the defectors are smart enough to recognise that.

Can't help thinking she'd defect to Reform tomorrow if it wouldn't cost her what's left of her political credibility. I'm sure Truss must have contemplated it as well, but simply talking shit on the lucrative right-wing media grifter circuit doesn't require the same level of commitment.

A craftier, savvier bigot would have said something about "foreign accents" or how nobody speaks English in the supermarket queues anymore, but Jenrick's consciously chosen to pander to that point on the compass where the very worst impulses of Loonygraph columnists converge with 1970s NF rhetoric.

If any of you had Tarzan retooling himself as a fearless crusader against the rising tide of neo-fascism *in his fucking 90s* on *your* 2025 bingo card, then as far as I'm concerned, you can just take the pot now.

“You described Reform and other parties across Europe today as among the 'right wing equivalents of the fascists in the 1930s'. Why?”

“Because that’s what they are”

@vicderbyshire.bsky.social asks Lord Heseltine about remarks he made at Conservative Party Conference.

This might be the first picture of Kash Patel I've seen that doesn't look as if it was taken at the exact moment he realises he's shit himself.

This might have been much more shocking if it wasn't crystal clear some time ago the direction in which Jenrick was travelling. No question he'd have been a member of the National Front fifty years ago.

what if I told you that taking accountability for your actions was traditionally considered a load-bearing feature of masculinity?

“I voted for none of this."

Prominent influencers, including Theo Von, Joe Rogan, and Andrew Schulz, are starting to distance themselves from the president they helped propel to the White House.

It's as if nobody's realised that the strategy they're determined to mimic is deeply unpopular, and that buyer's remorse is rapidly becoming the defining characteristic of all but the most swivel-eyed of Trump voters. But this is what happens when all your comms people refuse to abandon Twitter.

Pity there's little likelihood his media fan club will press him on it. Local level is always where far-right nativists show how ill-equipped they are for the hard work of government. Waving chainsaws around might impress an ever more easily-led media class, but reality is a little more troublesome.

When the "seemples!" approach to politics inevitably collides with the difficult realities of, y'know, actually running shit.

I'm gonna need the over/under on Badenoch herself defecting to Reform before the Tory conference ends.

I bet she wishes she could.

Conservative donor and personal adviser to leader Kemi Badenoch Mark Gallagher has defected to Reform, Sky News reports.

Not just in the US either. In the UK all the major media orgs & outlets, as well as govt & opposition comms and ministers alike, are still on Twitter where they're having their perceptions warped and taking that worldview with them into their day-to-day, along with everything that implies.

We've definitely been spoilt in recent years, and I'm just as frustrated as the younger fans right now, but FFS. Shall we talk about title hopes being dead in the water by Xmas? Or being a goal down to Havant & Waterlooville *twice*? Or Roy fucking Hodgson trying to turn Torres into Bobby Zamora?

There's every likelihood they worked harder on this part than on any other aspect of it.

"Our credible plan is also an acrostic."

(This is, genuinely, the actual Conservative press release.)

Last time we lost three on the bop we'd just won the league, so nobody really gave a shit. There's been a lot to deal with this season, and right now we're not dealing with it well. Just got to be patient. #LFC

So much good stuff out there. Had a few of the o.g. Motown albums on vinyl since my 20s, but when I was working at Universal I made full use of the generous staff product allowance and grabbed all of 'em on CD. The Buddah years and beyond aren't short on gems either.

So, we'll have none of that talk here, TYVFM.
