The so-called temple of Bacchus at
Baalbek. The impressive building is one of the best preserved and largest Roman temple ruins and part of a temple complex located in the Bekaa Valley, Lebanon, an UNESCO World Heritage site since 1984.

It's World Heritage Day in Germany today! In 2017, caves from the Ice Age in the Swabian Jura became UNESCO World Heritage Site. Mankind's earliest mobile art was found in those caves, e.g, the marvellous figure of the lion man, carved in mammoth ivory ca. 40,000 years ago. 1/2

This Egyptian model boat dates from c2080-1940 BCE & was enclosed in a tomb. Its symbolism may be to ensure the safe travel of the dead in the afterlife or, more generally, it may represent the journey to the afterlife. Either way, it’s terrific.
