Not the t-shirt, but we were allowed to keep one of the signs with the name, which we now have on display inside the shop.

That's our shop, yes! Rochelle is at the counter on the left.

Our shop features in episode 5 of series 11. Renamed 'Kingdom of Rogues', although you can still spot our sign in the scenes shot in the carpark behind the shop. Rochelles serving at the counter.

The Scarecrow is a classic of NZ 1980s cinema. Great film and novel. I'm surprised you've not heard of it. It made a big impression on me when I saw it on TV in the mid-1980s. Looking forward to seeing it again.

There's a distinct difference between the first three episodes and the rest of the story. As you may know, eps 1-3 are largely the work of David Whitaker, whereas eps 4-7 are ghost-written by Malcolm Hulke, who was brought in to complete the serial.

Just seen this. As others have said, it's from Nemesis of the Daleks. Opening page of Part Three, DWM 154.

New Skarasen (left) vs restored old Skarasen (right). From today at the BFI. #DoctorWho (Reposted because I originally labelled them the wrong way round...)

They make a good point about the anachronism, except that the year's wrong. Black Orchid is set in 1925, not 1927.

So this happened on today's episode of Strange New Worlds. So Pelia once met the Doctor? Crossover! #startrek #doctorwho
On Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (season 3 episode 10), Pelia says "Remind me to tell you about the time" "I spent with a time-tra--" "travelling Doctor I once knew."

The Billingham novels are great. Highly recommended. No substitute for a copy of Lungbarrow though!

People seemed to like the first one, so here is a big, nerdy post by me on Doctor Who and the Day of the Daleks by Terrance Dicks: 0tralala.blogspot.com/2025/08/doct... #DoctorWho #Booksky

Terrance's unfamiliarity with vehicles presumably explains too why Bessie is invariably referred to as a roadster in his books.

Good to see that 35 years later you're still appearing in the Herald. :)

Slightly pained expression from Lenska due to having to come back into studio on a day after she'd thought she'd wrapped because no-one had arranged to shoot any publicity photographs while she was there.

Funnily enough, it was Scott who recommended The Wasp Factory to me many, many years ago. I've loved Iain Banks' books ever since.

Because he was the editor there was perhaps no one in a position to point out to him that this really needed further work before it was fit for publication. Mind you, Deceit arrived hard on the heels of The Pit so evidently there wasn't very much quality control happening at the time.
